    Overgrown and unusable, turned into clean, safe, workable land. Here's what that looks like on real Central Victorian properties.

    Rural property, Bendigo

    Site Prep & Asset Protection Zone

    This property was getting ready for a new dwelling, so the owners needed selected trees taken out and the site prepped before the BAL assessment. Pulling the vegetation and fuel loads back from the house and sheds opens up a proper Asset Protection Zone, which is one more layer of protection when fire season rolls around. We also widened the front entrance so emergency vehicles can get in without a fight.

    What we did

    Trees and scrub cleared along the fence lines and around the dwelling site, then pushed into a pile where the owners wanted it. Gum trees crown lifted to bring the fuel loads down. Timber gate post shifted and concreted in, rock wall taken out to widen the entrance. Dirt mounds spread back over the site and finished off with a smudge bar pass.

    Result

    A smooth, clean building platform the builders can walk straight onto, a clear Asset Protection Zone around the dwelling site, and an entrance wide enough for emergency vehicles.

    Paddock Slashing

    A rural paddock that was getting long and heading into fire season as fuel. The owners wanted the whole area cut back before the grass cured off, with the dam and scattered gum trees worked around.

    What we did

    The full paddock slashed in even passes, cutting the long grass down to a low, even height while leaving the scattered gum trees standing. Cut and dispersed where it fell to break down back into the soil.

    Result

    A clean, evenly slashed paddock with the fuel load down and fire risk knocked back before the dry, with the dam and trees untouched.
